The Time To Be
Among the very first things recorded for DE. I was still using the Casio pads that I'd used for drums on "Water From The Moon". It's uncharacteristically up and light for me, and for this album. But I thought the album needed something like that. No matter how dark the world may seem at times, there is light in it. And to only complain and offer nothing at all in the way of an out or a suggestion was really losing its appeal to me. Even if the suggestion was trite or silly, if I felt there was some truth to it, it was truly better than nothing. I know people that don't like the song. That's what the "skip" button is for.
lyrics
Sitting near the river as the light expands the day
Raining warmth into my head, I see another way
Water, flowing movement, birds are singing
They are free
Is freedom our illusion
Or just the time to be
Planes and ships and open fields are calling me to stray
Diversions and illusions grant more temporary stay
Could it be the root is there
For all to plainly see
It's not some trip we're looking for
It's just the time to be
Vampiric trivialities pollute the blood of time
Can there be transfusion
Can the two worlds be combined
Why should it take a miracle for all to plainly see
It's not more clocks that people need
It's just the time to be
