There are a couple of unusual instruments recurring throughout the album, and they're very audible at the beginning of this track- hammered strings and flexible metal. The metal is bent and shaken to produce pitch changes, shaken faste to produce vibrato, and so on. The hammered strings come from a half dozen cast off or broken thrift store instruments, played with a few different kinds of rods.
