This one is a little palate cleanser between tracks 8 and 9, the two heavy pieces at the end. I made something up that was similar to some of the lighter places throughout the album. There's still some tension towards the end- there has to be, this is no place for a plate of fairy dust.
You may notice that the repeated little riff on the piano is not very regular. This was done on purpose- no, seriously! I once dated a pianist/organist prodigy who complained to me, about how many students she was in masters with who played strictly rubato. I made her explain the term, which at the moment I understand to mean "metrically regular". She thought it was important to keep things expressive, and that required a little looseness. I'd never tried that on keyboard (at least not purposely!). and thought now would be a good time. It was interesting, but I'm not sure this was the place for it. Regardless, I did it again in part 9.
