A statement of theme, an overture. The 2nd guitar is played in the bass register and was added as a very fortunate afterthought, it hadn't been planned but just seemed like a good idea when it came time to record. The main guitar sound, which I think is similar to mellotron strings, is also something of a trademark for me.
