Dave Newhouse Greg continues to push the envelope with this gorgeous and challenging new album. Posing as the soundtrack to a science fiction story (and it really does come off like a soundtrack to a movie), this album utilizes structured improvised phrases that Greg pieces together as he plays with the studio as the main instrument. Highly recommended.

about

THE ANIMISM CIRCUIT

In search of a solution to creating artificial
inteligence, a scientist travels to a distant
jungle when he hears of a computer which
has supposedly been inhabited by a spirit,
through tribal magic.

The story turns out to be true, but the results
are horrible. The hybrid creature is frightened
and angry, it can neither see nor hear. Any approach
is treated as an attack. It can cause injury and death.
The scientist believes he can do better, and for
a large sum of money from a convinced investor,
buys the ritual secrets from the tribe's shaman.

Returning to civilization, the scientist seeks
not one, but two spirits to inhabit the computer,
in the hope that the sense of terrible isolation
suffered by the hybrid in the jungle will not
occur this time. Further, the spirits belonged
to an intelligent, scientifically trained man
and woman in life.

But things do not go as planned....
